Doncaster to Scunthorpe Power Upgrades

RT Infrastructure Solutions is excited to share an update on the Doncaster to Scunthorpe 650V power upgrades project!

The project involves renewing the signalling power distribution system over 44,000m of route mileage between Doncaster and Scunthorpe, along with the associated signalling modifications required throughout area. RT-IS was contracted by one of our highly valued clients to undertake all signalling works, including correlation, installation, testing & commissioning and recoveries.

Since January, our teams have been diligently working on the installation and prep testing works along with successfully completing 2 significant commissioning stages. We’re thrilled to report that we have now successfully completed installation and prep-testing works in 235 location cases, with only 5 left to complete in the coming weeks. The remaining commissioning’s for these works will take place throughout 2024.

DCL56 / River Cherwell – Bridge Renewal Works Update

Our team has been hard at work on the DCL56 / River Cherwell bridge renewal project, providing crucial SMTH support and supervision. We’ve successfully managed controlled staged cable slews and the application and activation of At Risk Notices, ensuring the project progresses smoothly.

Here’s a summary of some our successful activities so far:

🚦Isolated the DNO Cabinet and completed the slew of signalling, power, and telecoms cables to accommodate the installation of sheet piling.
🚦Conducted a tag and trace operation to identify cables discovered during trial holes.
🚦Assisted with onsite DNO cables management and arranged E&P controlled isolations for cable moves.
🚦Conducted a site readiness review with the onsite team, confirming readiness to undertake the core slew onto a temporary cable bridge (scaffold).

Kudos to the entire team for their dedication and hard work in ensuring the success of this project!

🚦Signal Sighting Assessment: We’ve managed a comprehensive assessment to identify and address any sighting issues for drivers caused by the platform extension works or temporary hoarding.
🚦SMTH Support: Providing essential support for cable slew works and overseeing construction activities near on-site cables.

Excited to see the progress and improvements this project will bring!
