RT Infrastructure Solutions (RTIS) successfully delivered a key package of signalling works for the transformative Salford Crescent station upgrade, part of Network Rail’s Manchester and Northwest Transformation Programme (MNTP).
This £21 million infrastructure enhancement aimed to improve passenger flow and alleviate congestion by introducing a new third platform at one of Greater Manchester’s busiest rail hubs.
The third platform, now in service, provides increased operational flexibility for signallers and helps reduce delays across the central Manchester rail network, including improving access to Manchester Airport and other key destinations.
With nearly 1.2 million passengers passing through Salford Crescent in 2022/23, the upgrade was vital to meeting growing regional demand.
RTIS played a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient integration of the new platform into the existing signalling infrastructure. Our team managed all phases of signalling works, from early surveys through to final commissioning, while coordinating with key stakeholders including Salford City Council during major road closures and diversions.
RTIS is proud to have contributed to this high-profile infrastructure upgrade, reinforcing our reputation for excellence in signalling delivery and collaboration on major rail enhancement schemes.
